Dr. Jorge Gonzalez Estrella, Ph.D.
Dr. Jorge Gonzalez Estrella graduated with a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona in December 2014. Jorge then worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology from 2015 to 2017 on a project focused on waste to energy. In 2017, he joined the University of New Mexico as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and continued working as a Research Assistant Professor from October 2018 to July 2020. At the University of New Mexico, Jorge investigated heavy metal mobility and remediation technologies. Jorge joined Oklahoma State University in the Fall of 2020, and his research will be focused on three main areas: fate and microbial toxicity of priority pollutants in water and soil, (bio)transformation of waste to energy, and (bio)remediation of contaminants.
