Yates elected President of the Associated Schools of Construction

Dr. Heather Yates, Professor and Program Coordinator of the Construction Engineering Technology Program, has assumed the role as the President of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) at the esteemed 60th Annual International Conference held at Auburn University.

ASC, a globally recognized professional consortium comprising over 160 universities offering construction programs, serves as a unifying force for educators and industry professionals dedicated to the advancement of construction education. With a commitment to fostering collaboration and excellence in curriculum, teaching, research, and service, ASC provides a platform for the exchange of ideas and the promotion of innovation.

 

Assuming the presidency for the term of two years, Yates will lead the organization steering its strategic direction and championing its mission to elevate standards within construction education. In the 60 years of the organization, she is only the second woman to serve as president. Yates has previously been elected to serve the organization as 1st Vice President from 2022-2024, 2nd Vice President 2020-2022, Secretary 2018-2019, and two terms as Region 5 Director with the most recent being from 2014-2017.

ASC is the premier organization for construction educators, and it is an honor to lead an organization that prides itself in connecting and preparing construction faculty and providing opportunities for construction students to network and compete in student competitions. - Dr. Heather Yates
