MACINTOSH
Macs are not recommended. Nearly all CEAT software is Windows-based. But if students choose to buy a Mac, they need a very high-end system, with at least the following specs and requirements:
- Must purchase Parallels virtualization software
- Must purchase a copy of Windows 10 or 11 to run on Parallels. This cannot be an OSU-supplied version of Windows.
- CPU: i7 or better, or equivalent M1 processor
- RAM: 32GB
- Storage: 1TB SSD
Caveat: Attempting to run Windows-only, high performance software such as SolidWorks may yield inconsistent results.
