OSU alumnus Steven B. Gray elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society of Safety Professionals

Steven B. Gray, CSP, CHST (’98), has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).

 

Steve, an Oklahoma State University alumnus of the Fire Protection Safety Engineering Technology program has been member of ASSP for 21 years and was elected Vice President of the Council on Regional Affairs (ASSP) in 2019 where he served a 3-year term. 

 

Steve works as the Senior Site Workplace Health & Safety Manager for Amazon based in Suffolk, Virginia.  Prior to Amazon, Steve was the Global Senior Manager, HSE for the Government Services Division of KBR based Houston, TX and oversaw HSE at over 200 sites around the world.  Steve has worked with FMC Technologies, Manhattan Construction, Dallas Cowboys, ISNetworld and CBRE over his 23-year career. 

 

Steve has been a Professional Member of ASSP since 2001, has been a member of CoRA since 2015; Region III Vice President (2015-2019), Deputy VP of CoRA (2018-2019) and VP of CoRA (2019-2022).  He has held multiple chapter and regional positions in his time as a member.

 

Steve is a multi-recipient of the Safety Professional of the Year - Council on Practices & Standards (2019), International Practice Specialty (2019), Region III (2019) Gulf Coast Chapter (2018), Construction Practice Specialty (2006) & Southwest Chapter (2005).  In addition, Steve was awarded the Charles V. Culbertson Award for outstanding leadership in 2019. 

Steve serves as a Board trustee for the Texas Safety Foundation and served as a coach and Board President of Miracle League DFW (baseball association for children with special needs.)

 

Steve is a proven leader, personally, professionally and within the community and believes in doing his best at everything he undertakes.

 

"Being elected to serve as a Director At Large for the American Society of Safety Professionals is an incredible honor and one I will not take lightly.  ASSP has evolved substantially since I became a member and will continue to change in the years to come, I am incredibly humbled to be able assist the Board of Directors of ASSP in setting this growth strategy and ensuring our members have the experience they expect from this Society.

 

ASSP is a global association for occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals, and supports them in their efforts to prevent workplace injuries, illness and fatalities by providing education, advocacy, standards development and a professional community to help advance their careers and the OSH profession as a whole.
