Gary Snyder, director of Oklahoma State University’s Center for Local Government Technology, received two distinguished honors at the 2025 International Association of Assessing Officers Annual Conference, held in October in Orlando, Florida.

 

Snyder was inducted into the 2025 class of IAAO Fellows, one of the association’s highest professional recognitions. Established by the IAAO Board in 2018, the fellows program honors individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to the assessment profession and to the association itself. To date, only 57 professionals worldwide have received this prestigious distinction.

 

In addition to being named an IAAO Fellow, Snyder was also presented with the Verne W. Pottorff, CAE, Professional Designee of the Year Award. Named for former IAAO Executive Board member Verne W. Pottorff, CAE — an advocate for professional advancement within the field — the award recognizes an IAAO designee who has most effectively promoted the goals and mission of the IAAO Professional Designation Program.

 

Snyder holds a Residential Evaluation Specialist professional designation and is a dedicated supporter of IAAO’s designation programs in Oklahoma. As an active member of both the international organization and the Oklahoma Chapter, he serves as an IAAO representative and plays a key role in ensuring that professional courses are regularly offered across the state.

 

Throughout his career, Snyder has mentored, advised and proctored numerous professionals seeking IAAO designations, significantly expanding the number of credentialed assessors in Oklahoma. His influence extends to his own team at CLGT, where seven staff members currently hold professional designations, and several others are pursuing credentials under his guidance.

 

With approximately 1,700 attendees, the 2025 IAAO Annual Conference served as a fitting venue to celebrate Snyder’s outstanding leadership, mentorship and service to the assessment community.
