Pamela Fortney, an accountant in the School of Chemical Engineering at Oklahoma State University, received the 2025 College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology Outstanding Performance Award.

Since joining the department in April 2024, Fortney has proven to be an invaluable asset. Just one day before her one-year anniversary, she had already been acknowledged for her achievements in her challenging but rewarding role.

The CEAT Outstanding Performance Award recognizes staff members for their outstanding performance and contributions to CEAT’s vision and mission. This award highlights the quality of contributions to the unit’s mission, knowledge of the job, attitude towards students and external constituents, interaction with colleagues, and the development of new initiatives to advance the unit or college mission.

“Being a recipient of this award motivates me to continue achieving great things in my role,” Fortney said. “I feel very grateful that my efforts are recognized, and I will continue to work hard.”

Before transitioning into an accounting role, Fortney had many other careers, including event planning, apartment leasing, account management at a public school and working as a loan assistant and a mortgage loan closer at a bank. However, her OSU alumni roots and her personal value of maintaining high work standards brought her back to Oklahoma State.

“I believe there were a few reasons I was considered for this award during my first year as a School of Chemical Engineering accountant. I cleared many old fund reconciliations and worked diligently with all faculty who have grant funding to keep their budgets in order,” Fortney said. “I have also developed positive working relationships across the department, college, and campus.”

Fortney’s efforts as the departmental finance knowledge base have significantly impacted the faculty, staff and students.

“It is my goal to be an experienced and accomplished part of this department. I would like to be known as the go-to gal for questions, and I believe this award is a great first step and shows that I am already recognized for my helpfulness, attention to detail and broad knowledge base.” Fortney said.

The chemical engineering department is grateful to have her as part of the OSU staff and look forward to her continued success and impact.
