Matin Ghadiri Yazdi

Meet Matin Ghadiri Yazdi, a second-year PhD student set to graduate in Fall 2025. Matin's hobbies include composing music, singing, playing musical instruments, swimming, and reading personal development books. He's also an EA's FIFA soccer champ among his friends.

Currently, Matin is conducting important research on Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers (FTHXs). Ultimately, his sponsored work aims to replace high-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants with low or ultra-low GWP alternatives. He'll improve FTHXs' design and set industry guidelines for better performance, cost, and eco-friendliness using experiments and simulations.

Matin’s work has already earned recognition, with published papers on renewable energy and thermal management of electronic devices. During his early work, Matin’s experiments on Photovoltaic Thermal systems with nano ferrofluids resulted in a highly cited paper published in the prestigious "Energy Conversion and Management" journal. His expertise extends to thermal management for electronic devices, where he had a hand in designing energy conversion systems such as Pulsating Heat Pipes and heat exchangers. In HVAC research, Matin has two journal paper on the horizon, and has a published conference paper that was recommended by the International Institute of Refrigeration, a renowned global network of leading experts, promoting sustainable refrigeration and associated tech.

CIBS has allowed Matin to dive deeper into his interests while offering opportunities to connect with industry experts. He plans to expand his expertise in designing eco-friendly energy conversion systems, focusing on renewable energy. After graduation, Matin aims to contribute to the development of such systems here in the US, serving his vision to reduce environmental impact, improve air quality, and mitigate climate change.
