Tuesday, January 30, 2024
Saurav Shrestha, a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering,
was recently named a Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Scholar for
the spring 2024 semester by OSU's Spears School of Business.
Shrestha was chosen from a competitive pool of outstanding applicants from the MBA
program, MBA-Certificate in Entrepreneurship, MS Business Analytics & Data Science
and outstanding graduate students from programs outside the Spears
School of Business.
The CIE Scholars program is an initiative at Oklahoma State University designed to
recognize and engage top graduate students. It is a distinguished program that selects
outstanding graduate students each semester through an application and interview process.
The CIE Scholars program will take research being performed on campus or other technical ideas and the scholars will spend a semester developing a commercialization plan for the technology. Students will participate on interdisciplinary teams using the OSU NSF Innovation Corps Process
(https://icorps.okstate.edu). This class is part of the NSF I-Corps program under contract 1548003. All participants in the class will become funded NSF researchers and gain lineage that will allow them to apply for the I-Corps nationals program.
Shrestha's research focuses on the development of an Augmented Reality application aimed at improving online engineering education. This application is designed to enable students to visually grasp fundamental concepts in structural engineering. Additionally, it facilitates collaboration through voice chat, enhancing the online learning experience. Shrestha's intention is to extend this research to innovate and develop an entrepreneurial AI-based Virtual Reality platform specifically tailored for engineering training and learning modules.
