The Hoffman Family Endowed Scholarship was recently established to honor Electrical and Computer Engineering alumnus, Dennis Reid Hoffman (1943-2022). Born in Perry, Oklahoma and raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Hoffman received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1966 from Oklahoma State University and a subsequent graduate degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Hoffman also pursued doctoral studies through the University of Maryland. With his wife, Judith Carol (Walz) Hoffman, they had four children: Mark, Brian (1996 OSU BS in Geology and 2001 OSU MS in Geology), Eric (1999 OSU Bachelor of Architecture) and Kurt. Dennis Hoffman’s career included leadership roles at Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin as well as numerous professional engagements across the globe. He also dedicated his time and expertise to the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Reliability Society.
Due to the generous support of the Hoffman family, select students of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Architecture will receive financial assistance in the form of scholarships to help defray the expenses of higher education. These same students will become the next generation of leaders cast in the mold of Mr. Hoffman’s professional example.
