Tim Wilson has been an industrial safety specialist since 1993. He received his Certified Safety Professional credential in 2000 and his Certified Hazardous Materials Manager credential in 2007. He has been a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals since 1997, having held positions as Tulsa Chapter Treasurer and Chapter Liaison to the OSU American Society of Safety Professionals Student Section.
His work experience has been primarily in manufacturing in the paper industry with International Paper in Green Bay, Wisconsin, tire manufacturing with Goodyear in Lawton, Oklahoma, marine propulsion manufacturing with Mercury Marine in Stillwater, OK, and aerospace manufacturing with ASCO Aerospace in Stillwater, OK. He also worked in the energy sector as a Regional EHS Manager with Suzlon Wind Energy in the US and as an expatriate in Doha, Qatar in the offshore oil and gas industry with Occidental Petroleum. Tim is a very hands-on safety professional and believes his most important objective as a safety professional is being trusted by workers.
Tim has extensive experience in developing, implementing and maintaining safety processes for businesses and has practical approaches to integrating these processes into the workplace. He is skilled at hazard assessments including not only those hazards that are immediately dangerous to life or health, but also those that are more subtle, such as ergonomic hazards. Tim has overseen the management of hazardous and universal wastes, spill prevention, control and countermeasures, storm water pollution prevention and electroplating process wastewater pretreatment.
He has multiple success stories in implementing incident investigation processes and developing employee safety committees and enjoys sharing his work experiences. He has spoken at a number of different venues including the Oklahoma Safety Council’s Annual Conference, the Oklahoma Governor’s Safety Conference, and the American Society of Safety Professional’s Region III Professional Development Conference.
Tim lives in Stillwater, Oklahoma and is currently a Teaching Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University
