Derek Blackshare, PE
Derek Blackshare has over 31 years of experience in the environmental consulting and engineering industry and started his own company in 2000. He is CEO & President of Blackshare Environmental Solutions of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He manages all aspects of the consulting firms' business including technical oversight, staff development, project management, and marketing. He specializes in complex compliance issues with a variety of environmental regulations and is widely recognized as an expert on environmental issues involved with real estate. Derek is past Chair of the International Right of Way Association's (IRWA) Environment Committee and a certified instructor for IRWA's environmental courses. In addition, Derek began instructing a graduate-level industrial engineering credit course on hazardous materials and environmental management in 1997. Derek is also on the Environmental Programs Advisory Board (EPAB) for Oklahoma State University.
Derek is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in four states and holds several other certifications. He has been the recipient of the "Corporate Champ" award presented by Oklahoma Airport Operators Association (OAOA) three times, the "Environmental Excellence" award presented by FAA, and is a Leadership Oklahoma Class XXIV Graduate. Derek was also honored to be awarded the Most Admired CEO by the Journal Record in 2020.
Derek is very involved in community activities. He has served as a Deacon at his church, coached Youth sports teams, and routinely volunteers. He is currently on the STEM advisory board in Tulsa and member of Tulsa Executives Association (TEA). Derek was raised in northwest Oklahoma and, in his spare time, enjoys hunting, golf, and snow skiing.
