Don came to OSU from Tulsa and graduated from IEM in 1971. After serving in the U.S.
Army and earning an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania,
he began his career with Exxon Corporation in 1976. Don, his wife Cathey (a graduate
of the University of Oklahoma) and their three daughters moved 19 times in their career.
He moved to Exxon Headquarters in Dallas in 1997. He served as the Corporation’s Vice
President and Controller, Vice President and Treasurer, Principal Financial Officer
and member of the Management Committee before retiring in 2013. He was part of the
team that led to the merger of Exxon and Mobil. Additionally he was instrumental in
streamlining the company’s business support processes which led to annual savings
of about $4 billion.
