Gary Minter Johnston
Gary Johnston graduated from the OSU IE&M Program in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He remained at OSU as a Teaching Assistant to complete his Master’s degree in IE&M, graduating in 1987.
Upon graduation, Gary began his career at Arthur Andersen in their Manufacturing Division, focusing on Just-In-Time (JIT) and Lean Manufacturing. After becoming a Senior Consultant, Gary left Arthur Andersen to work at J. Huber and Associates, performing company turnarounds alongside John Huber. Together, they worked with Aircraft Product Companies for about a year, playing an instrumental role in turning the company around and earning them the Boeing Vendor of the Year award.
Following his work with John Huber, Gary worked as a Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer at several companies, including Yuba Heat Transfer, where he led the Manufacturing Engineering department for several years applying JIT, SMED and Lean Manufacturing techniques. After leaving Yuba Heat Transfer, Gary joined SAP America.
At SAP, Gary led the North American Utilities Solutions Team, where the division experienced triple revenue growth in generation, transmission and distribution, and customer care business areas. He spearheaded major initiatives, including key partnerships with Accenture, Deloitte & Touche, and ESRI GIS Solutions, which contributed to this growth.
Gary then joined Meridium as Vice President of Partnerships, focusing on delivering maintenance and reliability products and services for asset-intensive industries. Making the shift to a sales-oriented role, Gary concentrated on selling to the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Utility, and Metals & Mining industries. Working with companies like Chevron, Nova Scotia Power, Keyera and many more, Gary helped grow Meridium until it was acquired by General Electric as part of their Digital Solutions growth strategy.
Gary continued in sales, serving as Director of Channel Sales for Asset Performance Management (APM) at AVEA, and currently as Vice President of Sales at Allied Reliability. At Allied, Gary is responsible for leading the company’s growth, which culminated in its acquisition by Shell Lubricants in 2023. He now manages sales and business strategy for their Reliability Solutions Division.
