Guat Mei Ng is Manager, Operations Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance at Steelcase Manufacturing Malaysia. Her previous employers include TRW Automotive, LucasVarity (Malaysia), GKN Driveline (Malaysia), OTIS Manufacturing, and MOTOROLA Technology.

 

Guat Mei received her BS in IEM at OSU.

 

Guat Mei chose early to stay with the traditional industrial engineering track in her career; however, that has morphed over time due to her performance and personality as she now leads the Operations, Facilities, and Maintenance Groups within the Operations Engineering Department. She has the distinction of being on “everyone's list” as a competent, generous, leader in IE, quality, LEAN, 5S, maintenance, facilities, and much more. She is not only highly respected, but also known for celebrating her employees and recognizing their special career accomplishments and noteworthy events in their lives. Nearly all the IEM graduates in Malaysia know Guat Mei and think highly of her. Guat Mei has maintained her competence at a high level and has nine certifications including Energy Management (Ministry of Energy Communication & Multimedia, Malaysia), Internal Verification Officer, MTM, LEAN (2), Train the Trainer, Flexible Mfg from United Technologies Corp, USA, Supplier Assessment, and Internal Quality Auditor. In her current position, following are some accomplishments from 2019: achieving $8 Mill APAC cost reduction goal; executing Product Development & Launch and localization activities in Steelcase Manufacturing Malaysia on time with yearly saving of USD $975,206.00; and supporting major cost reduction projects in Steelcase Manufacturing Malaysia and Procurement in materials cost saving, projects completed worth USD $1.5 mil.
