John Deming
John L. Deming, Jr received his bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech in 1988 and Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University in 1990.
Since 1990, John has been employed in a wide range of manufacturing Industries. John started his career in Management Consulting with J. Huber & Associates. John has served in various engineering , operations and leadership roles with Johanson Dielectrics, Johanson Technology (ceramic capacitors) , Ford Motor Company / Visteon (high volume automotive electronics), Lucent Technologies (Semiconductors / integrated Circuits), Superior Tube Company (Specialty Alloy Tubing Products -Medical, Nuclear and Aerospace), Cobham / Aeroflex (Defense RF and Microwave Products), Pratt & Whitney (Engine Components, Assemblies and Engines) and Johnson Controls Federal Navy Systems (Mission Critical Chiller Systems).
John served 6 years as a member of the automotive startup team at Lucent Technologies that developed and launched the system architecture and chipset technology for Sirius Satellite Radio, serving as product and program manager.
At Superior Tube Company, John was a member of the executive team that partnered with the United Steel Workers to successfully transform the company and achieve its best continuous financial performance in 35 years. That led to the successful sale and transition to private equity in 2012 and subsequently integrated with Ametek. John served 9 years at Superior Tube Company as Vice President of Quality, Engineering and Operational Excellence. At Superior , John partnered with Shingijutsu Global Consulting in a multi-year strategy to transform the production system. In 2013, John and his joint management and union Kaizen Promotion Office presented "Superior's Shared Management / Labor Approach to Continuous Improvement" at the Association for Manufacturing Excellence Conference in Toronto.
While serving as Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement at Aeroflex / Cobham, John led the team that won the 2016 Sir Alan Cobham Platinum Award for continuous improvement.
John also served 4 years as Associate Director of Quality at Pratt & Whitney, Cold Section Engine Module Center.
John currently serves as Director of Quality at Johnson Controls Federal Navy Systems.
While at Virginia Tech, John served as President of Triangle Fraternity. At OSU John qualified and ran the Boston Marathon with a sub 3 hour personal best. John is a member of The Sons of the American Revolution, an Eagle Scout and Founders Award Recipient from the Order of the Arrow. John enjoys spending time with his family and his three adult children, carving and building period reproduction furniture, collecting antique tools , cooking and family history.
