Steve Kiester


Steve’s career as an IE has allowed him to work in diverse areas in the aviation industry and community. After graduation at Oklahoma State (BSIE 1980), he began his career at Texas Instruments in NC machining, facilities, and material handling systems design / implementation. He later transitioned to manufacturing cost analysis positions at Bell Helicopter and General Dynamics (now Lockheed-Martin). Since 1993, he has served in a variety of project / program management support and teaching roles at Bell-Textron for both government and commercial aircraft development initiatives.

 

He has been a continuous member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) since 1992. As a member of the Dallas-Ft Worth Chapter IISE, he served as Director of Student Chapter Relations, Director of Programs, President, and Immediate Past President. He is also a member of the Project Business Foundation and the Project Management Institute (PMI). As a member of the OSU IEM Industry Advisory Board, he serves as the Student / Faculty Committee & IAB Scholarship Chair

 

In parallel to his career as an IE in the aviation industry, he has served in multiple areas of the general aviation community. As a FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII), he is a provider for pilot proficiency / aircraft transition training and serves as an appointed FAA Safety Team Representative. Within the Civil Air Patrol (United States Air Force Auxiliary), he serves in management roles in Operations, Personnel and Education & Training.
