Engineer Development Program
An Internship for High School Students
The Engineer Development Program (EDP) stands as a shining example of USRI's continual commitment to improving it's community and STEM education. The program teaches concepts of basic engineering design using a pragmatic approach.
The program currently offers summer internships to high school students which provides hand on experience working at the Research institute in Stillwater. Students are organized into teams and assigned research and development projects based on current market needs to complete over the summer with access to guidance from current engineering students as well as USRI's staff engineers. Students are responsible for everything required for project completion from design to manufacture.
This program not only gives high school students practical first hand knowledge but hands on experience and published research making them highly qualified candidates to any collegiate engineering program.
