Speedfest VII Summary

2017

Speedfest VII featured two racing classes: Alpha (Advanced) Class which is open to collegiate teams, and India (Invitational) class, which is open to high schools and academic teams with similar levels of experience.

A new racing category was added to India class this year, called STOCK class.  Teams could compete for trophies in the Modified or STOCK category.

Participation and Attendance

A total of 14 teams competed in Speedfest VII which was a great showing considering the weather.  Weather on Friday was excellent, and most teams were able to successfully tech-in and register, and enjoy a meal provided by the student chapter of AIAA.   However, for the first time, the Speedfest rain date had to be used for the flying competition due to very heavy rains and flooding all day Saturday.   13 teams were able to fly Sunday, and 5 rounds were completed successfully.
