Charles E. and Marion C. Stewart

Charles E. and Marion C. Stewart

Charles and Marion Stewart spent their entire married life in Oklahoma.  They had five children together, the eldest of which earned a B.S. EE degree from OSU in 1972.

Mr. Stewart (pictured) always confined his charitable giving to Oklahoma entities throughout his life, which ended in 1982.  Mrs. Stewart continued her husband’s policy and limited her giving to Oklahoma entities as well.

Together with her son Chris, the Charles E. Stewart Family endowment was established by Mrs. Stewart in 2001 and has since funded 29 scholarships totaling more than $72,000 to CEAT students at the sophomore level and above in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering through the 2017 academic year.  The endowment continues to fund three or four scholarships per year.  Recipients are selected by a committee within the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

While Mrs. Stewart died in 2017, scholarship awardees continue to be a great source of satisfaction for the Stewart family.  A member of the Stewart family will reply to any letter from a Stewart Family Endowment Scholarship recipient directed to them through CEAT.

The Stewart family sees their endowment as necessary to the maintenance of an Oklahoma university system as free from governmental funding and influence as possible.  At least one member of the Stewart family has made provisions to add to their endowment upon death and hereby encourages others to join with them in support of one of Oklahoma’s oldest, and most vital, institutions.
