Frequently Asked Questions
Please refer to the answers below if you have any of the following questions. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact CEAT DEI at ceatinclusion@okstate.edu
- What is diversity?
Diversity represents the range of characteristics among a group of people. These characteristics can include but are not limited to age, ethnicity, national origin, language, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious/spiritual beliefs, disability, military experience, socioeconomic status, and perspectives.
- What is the difference between Equality and Equity?
Equality is about everyone getting the same resources or opportunities. However, equality assumes that everyone has the same level of access to these resources and opportunities. Equity recognizes that people have varying levels of access to resources and opportunities and addresses unique needs so that each person reaches an equal outcome.
- What is inclusion?
Inclusion is the practice of providing equal access to resources and opportunities to those belonging to historically marginalized groups, and ensuring all feel valued, respected, and supported.
- How does CEAT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Programs support students?
CEAT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Programs aim to support students through advocacy, empowerment, and connection. We advocate for our students by calling for and creating additional student resources, empower students through active listening, encouragement, and openness to feedback, and connect students to CEAT, OSU, and Stillwater resources and networking opportunities.
- How do I join a student organization?
Students can join a student organization through the organization's campus link page. A list of student organizations can be viewed here: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Organizations. We encourage students to stop by our office for more information on how to get involved within CEAT. We would love to meet you!
