Ying Zhang awarded $1.1M NSF grant for ai-driven energy system transition against climate change

Dr. Ying Zhang of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and her Ph.D. student Sungjoo Chung, with collaborators Dr. Fei Ding from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Dr. Zhaoyu Wang from Iowa State University, won the Best Paper award at the 2024 IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) General Meeting for their paper “Taylor-Expansion-Based Robust Power Flow in Unbalanced Distribution Systems: A Hybrid Data-Aided Method.” Read more

Oklahoma State University’s Dr. Weihua Sheng, principal investigator and professor in the School of Electrical and Computer engineering (ECE), along with co-principal investigator Alex Bishop, professor in Human Development and Family Science received an NSF award in the amount of $550k for their research on an intelligent homecare system (IHS) to assist older adults who age in place.

ECE Professor, Dr. Weili Zhang, was named for the fourth year in a row a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher due to his pioneering work in THz imaging, spectroscopy, plasmonics, and metasurfaces

He is only one of two researchers in the OSU system to receive this award during 2022. In total, his research has been cited more than 17,500 times. He has an H-Index of 68 (i.e., 68 of his publications have been each cited more than 68 times).

Subhash Kak, Regents Professor in electrical and computer engineering at Oklahoma State University, has been appointed to the Indian Prime Minister’s Science Technology and Innovation Council. 

The committee consists of 21 members whose main task is to advise Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ten ministries in India on policy matters related to science, technology and innovation.
