Transfer Credit

It is your responsibility to obtain a syllabus for each course about which you are inquiring. Scan and forward the syllabus to your advisor via email. This documentation is needed as part of the evaluation submittal process.

The evaluation process can take up to five business days.

Transfer credit evaluation in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions determines acceptable transfer credit on a course-by-course basis for college-level credit earned at institutions who are fully accredited by any of the six US regional associations. The evaluation is based on course content, as described in the catalogs of those institutions and in consultation with appropriate academic units at OSU. All transferred courses are recorded on the student’s academic record. No part of the previous collegiate record may be disregarded. Courses completed at institutions located outside of the US will be reviewed for transfer credit based on US regional accreditation standards or post-secondary recognition in the country for which the institution is located. It is highly recommended that the program requirements and course syllabi be submitted for all courses completed overseas.

Make sure that the college/university you are taking a course from has the proper accreditation. There are colleges/universities from which Oklahoma State University will not accept transfer credit. Your advisor can help you with this.
Before registering for courses, make sure your advisor informs you of how they will transfer and whether they will fulfill your degree requirements. Ask your advisor to confirm in writing.

Start planning VERY early (two terms prior is best). Colleges/universities may have an application process that requires documentation from your academic advisor. Learn about the application process for the college/university you wish to attend before meeting with your advisor. It is also wise to note when classes start/end at the institution in which you wish to enroll; they may overlap with Oklahoma State University dates.

SAVE YOUR SYLLABI. If a course has not already been evaluated for transfer to Oklahoma State University, departments will often require you to submit a syllabus they can use in making their evaluation.
