Nathan ensures the overall success of faculty, staff, and students associated with CEAT online programs. Nathan has worked in higher education since 2001 and, although you will never hear him say this, he has received multiple awards and certificates throughout his career. Nathan is an OSU alum and utilizes the knowledge he acquired as an undergrad and graduate student to grow and compete in the ever-evolving field of online learning. His drive to change the traditional views of online education at OSU encourages his staff to think outside-the-box and work together to create quality courses. Nathan's strong desire to help others succeed in life has inspired an office atmosphere of professional development and comradery. His enthusiasm for personal and professional growth motivates his staff to support and cheer each other on as they reach for individual goals. If asked to describe Nathan in one word, most would say helpful, because everyday he strives to ensure that every person who enters his office, leaves satisfied that their problems were solved. Outside of work, Nathan serves as a living jungle gym and a chauffeur on "Soccer Saturday" for his kids. He also uses his free time to mentor aspiring eagle scouts, diligently check off his honey-do-list, and help his parents with various projects around their house.
Although Jim graduated from the University of San Fransico with a B.S. in Mass Media, he found his home at OSU. With over 25 years of experience in the Online Learning office, Jim has participated in the implementation of various recording technologies, from VHS to CD to digital recordings. Following each technological advancement, he adapted, and he implemented high quality recordings and improved the accessibility of courses for OSU students. Rewarded for his excellence in producing lectures, Jim is a two time recipient of the Outstanding Performance Award. Jim strives for excellence by researching and experimenting with the ever-evolving fields of sound, light, and digital recording. Outside of the office, he continues his drive for excellence by perfecting his golf swing at training camps and local tournaments.
Jillian is an OSU alumna who received a bachelor’s degree in Art and a master’s degree in History. She uses creativity and critical thinking skills honed from her education to bring new ways of thinking to CEAT Online Learning. As the Outreach Coordinator, she works closely with faculty to set up courses for each semester and coordinates with ITLE to ensure that the online courses get recorded. To grow and challenge her skill set, Jillian pursues professional development programs that will not only positively impact the CEAT Online Learning office but will help her continue her education and career. One word to describe Jillian is "curious" because she is intrigued by the unknown. She continually looks for something challenging to learn or new ways to look at old problems. Outside of work, Jillian goes on "Leave No Trace" camping trips with her husband and dog. At home, in her free time, she dabbles in sculpting and painting.
Graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Finance, Shelby uses the skills she learned during her academic career to manage the office accounts and ensure that every penny spent, was done so wisely. Shelby has multiple professional development certificates and is driven to continue her education, improve her professional skills, and contribute fresh ideas to elevate the efficiency of her financial position. As the unofficial decor specialist for the office, Shelby has incorporated her warmth and "eye for design" to create a welcoming space for students and faculty to enjoy. Growing up in the Stillwater community and attending Oklahoma State has given Shelby a unique perspective on how OSU impacts its residents and its students and she utilizes her experiences to ensure that students and faculty feel like they are a part of a community whenever she interacts with them. When Shelby is not a work, she dabbles in stocks and can be found nestled in a warm blanket, sipping tea, and cuddled up with her beloved pets.
Pam has served OSU for over 30 years and continues to work hard to make OSU an excellent place for its students. In our office, Pam works with faculty and testing centers to provide online students a space to take their exams. She is the Keeper of the proctor list and works tirelessly to improve the efficiency of sending out tests as well as verifying the integrity of testing centers. Pam has worked in several positions within the CEAT Online Learning office and uses her knowledge to help with any questions her coworkers might have with past and present policies. Pam’s ability to adapt to change and to try new things without hesitation enables her to work in the ever-changing field on online education. When unexpected issues arise in our office, Pam uses her sense of humor to keep her coworkers energy up. Outside of work, she is a passionate advocate for animals and helps homeless animals find a safe and welcoming home, even if that home is usually her own.
As one of the resident techs, Asa has refined the in-office recording studio, creating a space where CEAT faculty and staff can produce lectures and digital recordings that are accessed by online students around the world. As an OSU alum graduating with a B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Asa utilizes his student experience to produce quality lectures that are user-friendly and comprehensive. When approaching a technical problem, Asa thinks like an engineer to solve issues that arise in the production of online courses. Asa's strong work ethic and determination to expand on the traditional ideas of online courses has enhanced the way CEAT Online Learning connects with students. Asa strives to be the best he can be at work and at home. As a self-proclaimed "nerd jock," Asa uses his critical thinking skills to compete with friends in the virtual world and on the basketball courts.
Cheryl has worked for OSU for over ten years in various capacities. From Elevator Support to Administrative Support Specialist, she takes great pride in her work and tries to create a cheery atmosphere around her. Cheryl works at the front desk and ensures that each semester runs smoothly for students, faculty, and staff by keeping the office organized and ready for whatever issues that might arise. Her problem-solving skills and adaptability give her the drive to help every person that enters our office. Cheryl’s natural ability to be a sounding board has been an invaluable tool for her coworkers, who can come to her with professional or personal problems. When she is away from the office, she likes to busy herself with quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She is a proud member of three quilting guilds and works with the groups to create personal projects and inspire each other to keep learning their craft.
Leena is an alum and current student at OSU. She received her M.S. in Electrical Engineering and is working on her Ph. D. in the same field with a focus in Terahertz Metamaterials. Throughout her academic career, she has received recognition for her research through multiple awards, nominations, and published articles in scientific journals. Leena utilizes her experience in technology to produce lectures and troubleshoot technical difficulties in our classrooms and recording studios. Leena designed our lead-in and exit packages, digital recordings that we use for every online lecture and seminar, creating digital productions that are aesthetically cohesive and allow students the ability to access our list of online courses directly from their lecture video. She works closely with faculty to provide technical support and ensure that the course materials are produced and ready for online students to access. Leena spends most of her time outside of work in the lab, but occasionally she can free herself from her research and finds time to sketch or explore unfamiliar places.
Lauren assists in the collection and dissemination of online course materials. Lauren began working with CEAT online learning as a freshman and has become a valued member of the staff. As an out-of-state student, Lauren has found a second home at OSU and works tirelessly on her degree and extra-curricular activities. She is pursuing a degree in Agricultural Communications with a minor in Marketing and utilizes the knowledge she is gaining to bring fresh ideas to our office. While in the office, Lauren works diligently and puts careful thought into the tasks she is assigned. Even though she maintains a busy schedule that includes CASNR student council, CASNR Ambassadors, McKnight Scholars, taking leadership in her sorority, and public speaking opportunities, her work with CEAT Online Learning never falters. Outside of school and work, Lauren enjoys going to the beach, horseback riding, and reading. She is especially fond of the process of handwriting letters and always has a pack of stationary nearby. The CEAT Online Learning staff knows, that whatever career path Lauren takes, her hard work and determination will help her succeed.
